What is Gum Contouring/Shaping?

Gum contouring, also known as gum reshaping, is a safe and minimally invasive cosmetic dental procedure designed to enhance the balance and aesthetics of your smile by removing or reshaping some of your gum line to achieve your desired smile using a safe laser treatment.

At WS9 Dream Dental we are one of the few practices in the country offering this service. We will use a specialist laser to trim away and shape the gum tissue so that it looks even and in proportion to the teeth.

Gum contouring, however, is a largely pain-free procedure. The beauty of it is that the laser naturally seals and shapes the gums. There is no excess bleeding, no need for stitches, and no open wounds.

Gum contouring is such a straightforward procedure that it also only requires a local anaesthetic. So you do not need to be ‘put to sleep’. Apart from some numbness in the jaw, you can carry on with your normal daily activities straight after your appointment.
